A Hanken Visit…from Eli.

Summer is ending…school is starting.

My daughter Kelli had promised her kids one more sleepover at our house before school started. We squeezed that in on last Thursday into Friday.

I was pooped from all the running from vacation and the couple days after getting Rick settled with school and getting my medicine replaced that was stolen at the hotel. Kelli was over summer with the kids so the two of us sat around and cross stitched part of the day.

That meant every time Eli had something cool he wanted us to go and look at, we’d hand him a camera and let him take a picture of whatever it was and then we could just stay stitching. I know…pretty lame of Kelli and I but seriously, we were both just pooped.

So I thought I would share a few of the pictures he took.

Exciting, right??

He did manage to get this picture of Emmett, Kelli, me, and Karl.

We were just hanging out in the garage. Karl and Rick got in a game of pool and Karl and I shot a game of darts. Besides feeding everyone, that’s about all the “get up and go” that I had. I made Beef and Noodles…the recipe is HERE.

Eli got this silly picture of Rick.

At one point Eli came running to me and asked if I would let him keep a pair of sunglasses I had. I said sure. He immediately put them on his hat. Rick does that all the time. HA! Since Rick has been a part of my life, Eli now wears a hat all the time (like Rick) and he now wears sunglasses on his hat too (like Rick).

So cute.

Here he is…hat and glasses with his favorite stuffy, Pup Pup.

Most of the pictures are just ones Eli took or pictures we took of him. HA!…He loves us adults and prefers to hang out with us. The other kids…they like playing with each other.

They stayed and watched the WNBA basketball game on Thursday night. I’ve converted Kelli into a basketball fan. She’s more of a Lynx fan…me, more of a Fever fan but I like the Lynx too so I was happy to watch.

They ended up going home late on Friday night. Kelli snapped this picture of the kids in the car.

Eli and Georgia played hard and slept hard. Emmett too. The camera angle just didn’t catch him.

I’m so happy Kelli makes a big effort to get the kids to my house so we see them often…even on days we are pooped. They are always a fun bunch.

…and many thanks to Eli, who without his skills at stealing my phone and loading it with pictures, this blog post would not be possible. HA!!

  1. You look really good in your picture with the kids. You look happy, and you sound happy in your writings also. Life sent you a new adventure, enjoy it.
And it really looks like you are.

  2. What fun! Nice to know you have a new photographer when needed!
Happy that Rick blends so well with your family!
    Love and prayers

    1. Kelli lives about 35 minutes from my house. Kalissa lives about 3 minutes. Karl 1. The other two are about 2 hours away.

  3. I would say Eli has a great eye for his photography. Pretty good perspectivity for such a young boy. thanks for sharing.

  4. What a clever idea to have Eli take pictures so you can keep stitching and still see. Those are intricate constructions too. If Eli doesn’t become an engineer, he might make a talented photographer!

    1. I’m 100% sure Eli will be in the agriculture field is some way. All he talks about is hanging with his dad and farming.

    1. I didn’t write a lot about it. I let that go and didn’t make a big deal of it because I didn’t want it to ruin the vacation. I’ve learned over time that most things aren’t a big deal unless we make them a big deal. My focus was on enjoying our time away.
