It amongst the up and downs of the last week, I managed to finish up my last two Quilt Square Quilt Along blocks. Here’s the first one…this one was a bugger.
If I look at it really close it seems to me like the center block is slightly tipped. It’s probably nothing you notice from a picture but it just isn’t as perfect as I would like it to be. I don’t like my machine quilting either. Then when I was putting the binding on, I sewed the binding on the back instead of the front. I didn’t want to rip it out so I just carefully stitched it down…UGH! You can’t tell unless you look carefully but UGH. Hubby says it’s all my imagination….
My next one is sporting a new quilt holder. Isn’t it the cutest?? The people over at Ackfeld Manufacturing sent it to me to give it a try. I LOVE the sewing machine!! Apparently Ackfeld came out with several new designs that you will want to check out. They sent me more goodies to use as prizes for the Quilt Square Quilt Along too. You’ll have to follow the link to see the cute Halloween one. I’m not a Halloween lover but I am thinking it would be cute to do one of the quilts in orange and black and hang it on that hanger. Watch for them coming up. In the meantime, I have been holding my little quilt and frame up here and there auditioning where I should put it. I am currently thinking it will hang in my sewing room.
How are you coming along with your Quilt Square? Remember, you don’t need to make all three that are left…just one is fine. If you didn’t join us for the first part of the year, that’s okay. We’re starting with a new pattern Lori Smith’s From my Heart to you Hands Quilt Squares #4. You can purchase the pattern here from Country Threads and join us. If you don’t have a blog and want to include your quilt in the parade, mail it to me at rogjok@iowatelecom.net. If you haven’t sent a picture before and need help, send me an email and I will walk you through it.

Hi Jo
I think you are being too critical – your hanging looks great and I don’t think the center square looks off kilter at all. It’s lovely , so is the other little hanging. As for the cute sewing machine hanger – I want one!!!
Very cute quilt hanger, I would be happy to find something like that in France.
I finished two squares !
I agree with your hubby – they look great! I’m hoping to do all three this month and really need to do these two – all the piecing is done just need to do the applique and then start cutting out the last one! I decided to make them into a sampler quilt as you go quilt. It seems to be the year of new techniques for me and this will be another one – applique and trying a quilt as you go quilt.
Thanks for the inspiration and the perfect project to play with this concept.
Yep…it’s your imagination! They look great! Very cool new hanger.
I think your square is adorable – although I have one done, still hoping to do the last two….busy month. LOVE the hanger – very very cute!
Its so funny how we are. For me it is as if my mind magnifies those things I wish were different. Most everytime, a little distance & time puts it all back in perspective. Your little quilts look lovely to me. I say well done, especially given all the travelling you did in April & all your famiky has been through. Thanks for keeping this going. Hope May is a great month for you & yours. B
Jo, I think your blocks look great! I think we are always too critical of our own work. I love that little sewing machine top for your quilt hanger. I need to get one of these. Thanks for reminding me about sending you my block for the month…I almost forgot! Enjoy your day!
Love your mini’s that last one is fantastic. And the new quilt holder is adorable!
I don’t often admit this, but I think your husband is right…. it looks great! I think we’re always so much more critical of our mistakes (which other people probably wouldn’t even notice)!
Love the sewing machine hanger — that’s adorable!
Love that quilt holder — it’s so cute! And I can’t see a thing wrong with your quilt.
Both are very cute and well done. I am still working on my quilt square. I will be done in time to send a picture I hope. Would Monday be to late to send? I’m going to check into the quilt holders too.
