A Friday Finish

The wedding quilt is finished.  Wednesday night I put the last stitches in the binding.  I was going to snap a few pictures of the quilt on the couch when our beagle puppy, Ruby, started whining like crazy.  Right now we still have a gate between the kitchen and living room as we don’t trust Ruby on the carpet yet.  Ruby was in the kitchen and I was in the living room.  That’s when I decided it was time for Ruby to “earn her keep”.

I plopped her on the quilt and told her to sit.  Just like that she did.  I snapped a few pictures and she was perfect!

I couldn’t decide which picture to use…she was so good in all of them.

She even let me take a close up.

I love the way she cocked her head.

Now, if you are wondering about the quilt.  It’s a Maverick Star block.  I have made a quilt exactly like this a few years ago.  It’s been a favorite at the house.   When I asked our daughter Kayla, who is getting married in 8 days,  what quilt she wanted me to  make for a wedding gift, she said do you mind making one just like our favorite quilt.  Well at the time I didn’t know which was their favorite but said sure.  I was really relieved to see they picked this quilt.

Kelli was real helpful in getting this together so quickly.  She cut most of the neutral pieces out and sewed quite a few of the start points.

Here’s Gracie posing on the original quilt…and here’s the link to the blog post that tells more about it.

After all that work, Ruby got a little spoiled and then I let her sleep in the old gross office chair.

A budding new model does need her beauty sleep!

  7. I was so busy admiring Ruby that I had to go back and look at the quilt for it’s own sake. LOL. She is such a little darling. And the quilt is beautiful, too. ;o)

  8. Still tugs at my heart to see Gracie… reminds me of my dogs that are gone. But that Ruby is a sweetheart, that’s for sure! She’s going to make a great quilt model.

  10. Just gorgeous! I can’t believe how quickly y’all put this together – and 8 days?! For some reason I thought it was’t that close. I imagine y’all are stirring up quite the cloud of dust tending to last minute details. Ruby has big paws to fill, but she’s doing a stellar job and looks darling in those shots! Well done! Scrappy quilts make my heart sing!
