A Finish and a Challenge

I finished up my Pineapple Blossoms quilt.

Kelli and Puppycat were home when I was trying to take a picture so Ruby wasn’t the best at her photo shoot.  In fact, I gave up and just took a picture of the quilt.

Puppycat is just too distracting for her….and let’s be honest, Ruby’s attention span is too short when there are distractions.

I was hesitant on the binding fabric with this.  It’s a bigger print but has a strip of sorts in it.  I started to dig, looking for something else when I just decided that I didn’t like the fabric and using it up on the binding was worth getting it out of my stash.  It turns out, I love it!!

Remember Nell and I had a challenge to get ours finished??  She got hers entirely finished too.

If you are looking for the pattern you can find it here on Bonnie Hunter’s website.  It’s a free one and well worth checking out.

Nell and I are challenging ourselves to finish up another UFO.  We were  trying to come up with some type of quilt we both have.  We decided we both have a quilt with a star.  So star quilts it is…anyone want to join us?    If you have a quilt top that needs to be quilted with a star or if you have a quilt in progress and want to finish just the top that includes a star, join us.

On Friday, February 15th, we’ll have a linky party here with all the star UFOs.  If you don’t have a blog and would like to participate, no problem, just send me a photo by February 13th.  Here’s my email address rogjok@iowatelecom.net.   I will put the picture of you quilt on the blog.

Today I am hooking up with Today I am hooking up with Confessions of a Fabric AddictLink a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays and Crazy Mom Quilts.

  1. How delightful – just starting a star quilt (using up my left over Summer Breeze) to sew along side my SIL (she’s using a Kansas Trouble line) – we each have a different pattern.

  2. I’m going to start mine, but without the sashings. I think I’ll use 2 1/2 inch scraps, too since that’s what is available. Your quilt is lovely, and so is little Ruby!

  3. Great finish. I may have to do the quilt block someday. Great idea to challenge yourself to finish a quilt like Star each. I will not be joining you I got my only star quilt done last year.

  4. I’ll join your challenge, Jo. I have a Sister’s Choice that just needs borders, quilting and binding… That should be doable :) Cathy in TN

  5. I do have a quilt from my UFO list that has a stars. It is a Buggy Barn pattern, Crazy Chicks I think. Each chick block has a star. I just snatched it back from the long armer because (would you believe) I forgot to put tha border on. My plan is to have it completely finished by the first week of February for our smal group meeting so this will fit well….hopefully. My UFO list is 25 long so if you keep up this challenge I’ll have lots of opportunities to jump in, lol.
