A Few Blog Changes

I thought I would update you on a few blog changes and ask for your help too…

I am working on updating the quilt donations page. I have had a few people contact me saying that they have tried to contact people on the list and have gotten no response.

I have gone through and send an email out to everyone on the list that I don’t have regular contact with and have asked them if they want to stay on the list. If I have not heard from them by Labor Day, I will be removing them from the list.

I am not upset or mad that people are still on the list and no longer interested in donations…I just want to make it easier for those who are donating. Nothing is more frustrating than having goods to get rid of and not having people respond. I also know that some people may have passed away or are no longer quilting but have forgotten they are on the list…I also know that people change emails. So if you were on the list and no longer use the email you originally provided, you’re going to have to contact me and let me know your email has changed.

It’s really important to have the page running correctly with updated information. I get lots of people contacting me saying their aunt sewed and she passed away and they have no idea what to do with the sewing stash. Having the right info helps them and helps the groups getting goodies. Much of these exchanges happen without any of us, including me, even know.

I contacted Pat. Her group does panel quilts for school kids. Every year her group makes 80 quilts. Here are a few from their latest batch.

If you have kid-friendly panels or large print fabric like the quilt on the far right, Pat’s group would happily accept your donations. You can reach Pat at this email address. plrbr1120@gmail.com

Whew…I think we have the donation page covered. If there is something else or you have suggestions, please let me know.

Next. I currently write blog posts 13 times a week, taking Sunday night off. From now on I will also be taking Saturday evening off. So expect only 12 new blog posts a week. I know some of you have suggested taking the whole weekend off. I wasn’t up for that much of a change but I do welcome only one blog post on Saturday.

The change is just part of helping my work/life balance. I think it will also help the quality of posts I’m writing. If you see an additional miss here or there in posts, don’t fret. The goal is 12 posts a week, but sometimes life happens, and it just doesn’t work. Expect 10 for sure.

Goals for Fall are also to work on my YouTube channel. I’ve been letting that get a little lax. I also want to improve my Facebook and Instagram pages. Right now I don’t do a lot on it…and I should. These are all just hopeful things…I never know what kind of curveball my health is going to throw me or what my family needs.

Thanks so much for understanding. I appreciate any input you can give me on helping improve the blog to make it more enjoyable for you. You can leave a comment here or write me a note at joscountryjunction@gmail.com.

  1. Jo, thank you SO much for everything you do for everyone!
I would still like to be listed as a recipient, especially of cotton scraps.

      1. Janice, l am grateful for any cotton fabric that yields at least a 2 2/2″ square.
I use everything l’m given to make quilts for the newborns at Ben Taub Hospital in the Houston, Texas Medical Center.

  2. Jo good of you to update your donation list. Also you could certainly just do your blog once a day and be good with that. I do know you have so many interests that it is hard to get everything covered. You are a remarkable person with so much love to give. Give some of that love to yourself. There is enough to go around.

  3. Heavens, you need to make changes — I, too, would be thrilled to see one blog post a day. You need time for you…I can’t imagine doing 13 per week. I just appreciate hearing from you. Bless you and your family…. Deb

  4. Well Jo, One blog on the weekend is cool. Your life is full. I am glad you’re enjoying it. However you want to do it is fine with me. Thanks for the update on the donation page. I just emailed the quilters with the kids panels. Those panels will find a home. Appreciate it.

  5. Personally, I don’t think a schedule for blog posts is necessary. You deserve your time for your priorities. Those of us who read you regularly will keep checking just like we did when you and Rick were on Vacation in MI. :-)

What is the saying? Expect the unexpected !

  6. I have often wondered how you can keep up with two blogs a day. I, too, would understand if you just did one blog per day. Of course if you did that, you could always throw an extra one in if you wanted to. Whatever works for you!

  7. Oh my, I agree with the others. Even 10 posts a week is a lot! I love reading your blog and look forward to it. But only if you are really getting that balance with your work and life. Take care of yourself and your family and we will certainly understand and enjoy every blog post however often it is. It makes me so happy you have Rick to share life with now and so many other new interests.
    We can share you!!

I agree with everyone else. Feel free to blog once per day and then only one on the weekend. But do whatever makes you happy and keeps your life/work balance as it should be.

  9. Jo, you have been an inspiration to all of us. One post a day is a good thing! You’re busy with family and especially now with Rick in the picture, you need more time with them.
I do appreciate the updates on the donation page. I’m always finding something I can send.
    Love and prayers

  10. I do look forward to reading your blog posts, but you need to do whatever comfortably fits into your current schedule. You have lots of new interests now and it would be a shame to miss out on an opportunity to have some fun.

  11. FYI: Many people are letting their FB account go or limit more than in the past. That is all I know. Enjoy your weekend.

  12. I’ll be here reading whenever there’s a post! I had just checked the donation page the other day, so I’m glad to know about the update. Hugs,

  13. I agree with everyone that one a day would be good ! So happy you have Rick to share your life with , too ! Go girl and do all the fun adventures you’ve never done before ! You’ve worked so hard all the rest of your life ! You deserve it ! Blessings to you !

  14. Thanks for the update Jo. I agree that one a day would be just fine. I’m happy to read whenever and whatever you post. Enjoy time with your family and Rick.

  15. I’m all for one blogpost a day, and none on Sunday. Everyone deserves a day off! Enjoy the extra time with Rick and your family!

  16. I stumbled on your blogs a few years ago. I was having severe bouts of Asthma and couldn’t really do a lot. I enjoyed seeing posts about your kids and the daycare and the chickens. I watched your house updating and your husbands illness. Fast forward to today I had no idea that you wrote that many in a week! I usually get the notice by email and I find time in a day or two to catch up. Please write a blog post when you can and live your life.

  17. Wow, Jo. I read your blog faithfully but I did not realize I was reading 14 posts a week!! Once a day is plenty and take Sunday off. I really look forward to your regular “what I am working on” Monday posts even if you didn’t get anything sewn that week. A “What I want to work on” could still fill that slot and give us inspiration. Love to hear about your family life, words of wisdom, thrift finds, dive into old blog posts, recipes…but they don’t have to be on a schedule. Just whenever you feel like writing about them.

  18. Thanks for updating the donations recipients. That will be very helpful to have a current list. Do the Cresco ladies want fabric donations?
