A Change of Plans for the Fun…

My daughter Kelli was planning on moving this weekend and I figured I’d help for a day.  Moving is one of my LEAST favorite things in the world but I’m the mom and how do I say no.  She called today and told me that moving plans are cancelled.  The landlord has a few repairs to take care of before she moves and they weren’t done so…in comes PLAN B…and it’s a good one.

A trip to Country Threads in Garner!!

Kelli stopped by tonight and she asked me what I am planning on purchasing…..That got me thinking….

Do I need more fabric….NO
Do I need another pattern….NO
Do I need another wool project….NO

Then I got to wondering, then why am I going?  I knew the answer to that immediately….I am going because I want to and because I can.  I know I love this new pattern of theirs….I know I’ll come home with the best things…I always do when I go.  Tomorrow I am going to page through a couple quilt books and go through my projects that I have started just to see if there might be something I should get for a project.

This is one project that I want fabric for….It’s from Kim Diehl’s book Simple Graces.

I have seen this quilt made and love it.  (Check out Mary’s here) I have looked for the perfect black stripe…but haven’t found it yet.  I am hoping Country Threads will have it.

I know I have heard a couple bloggers and others saying that quilt shops are starting to lean towards the modern, large bright print fabrics.  Some have said that their local shops don’t carry Civil War Reproductions anymore.  I am very lucky because I am sure that Country Threads will always be carrying dark jewel toned fabrics….oh I can’t wait to go!!

In most cases…I don’t like Plan B….but this time, I know I’m going to LOVE it!

  1. I’m so envious-I’ve still never been to that store. One of these days I’m going to fly from CA just to go to Country Threads-I love, love, love that store. Please give Betsy the goat a pat on the head for me-have fun Jo. Sometimes plan B’s are better than plan A’s!

  2. Have fun, wish I was going with you. I love that quilt from Simply Graces. I am in progress on the quilt on the front cover of Kim’s other book Simple Seasons.

  3. Ohhhh…love that quilt and I too have the pattern/book… and am on the hunt for the perfect fabric!! Good luck!! I will be watching…and waiting! (geeze makes me sound weird…but in a good way..right?)

  4. I would LOVE to go visit Country Threads, but since I live in NC it won’t be any time soon! You are lucky to have such a great quilt shop within driving distance! Have fun!
