A Bit of Friendly Encouragement…

A post from Kelli:

I don’t know if I have eluded to this in the past, but I absolutely love–love–love my “real job.”  I enjoy my work, I stay  busy, I have flexible hours, and I have the BEST co-workers.  One of my friends, Sara, was volunteering at the Big Four Fair in Postville.  She knows that I really love to quilt and told me that I should bring one of my quilts to the fair.  I kind of shrugged it off, not really thinking I would do anything.  I didn’t know where the fair was or if it cost money to enter my quilt.  I also was of the impression that the majority of quilts that would be entered would be intricate bargellos or quilts with incredibly small pieces that were hand quilted.

After I told Sara these things, she just kind of giggled and told me to bring in a quilt and she’d take it to the fair for me.  I went home and washed this quilt.  I was kind of nervous and caught myself wondering multiple times how my quilt did.

When I came to work on Monday, Sara brought my quilt back.  Attached in the corner was this:

Pretty Ribbon
I was really proud of myself!  Sara said that they had more quilts that normal this year, so I was really happy with how I did.  She said that the winning quilt was embroidered with butterflies and hand quilted.  I wish I would have had time to check them all out!

I’m thinking that next summer I’m going to try to have my Winter Wonderland quilt done to see how that one does!

You are lucky it came back. I was tempted to put it on my bed and use it for awhile. :) I expect more quilts from the Kramer girls to be at the fair in 2014!
