Oh my…my Saturday was a productive day!!
I started the day by making a batch of cinnamon rolls….YUM!!
After that, I decided I would go anywhere the wind blew me…or more accurately to whatever project was close at hand.
I started out working on my mystery clue for the Quilted Twins Mystery. You can find more information out about that here. It started Friday with the first clue so jump on board and sew with us.
I ended up going with this fabric….
I am making the queen sized version so I needed to make lots of four patches…I love four patches so that’s all good. IN fact, this step is done!! YAHOO!!
About the time I got done with that, Karl came up to the sewing room to chat. I had planned on doing something else, but wanted to stay at the sewing machine and chat so I grabbed a quilt and started to bind it.
My Rosie dog was VERY cooperative today. I would honestly say she had her best day EVER!! She really let me sew.
Kelli called me to video chat. I tried talking to Georgia but she wasn’t really interested in me. I put Rosie on the screen and she was so excited and happy. I guess I see where I rate…right behind Rosie.
Kelli and I kept chatting and after Georgia went off to play and while we did, I loaded a quilt on the frame. This was something I have sewn together as a leader and ender. One of my childcare moms picked these up precut 3 1/2″ squares at the thrift store and gifted them to me. I counted the squares and figured for the size I wanted the top I needed to cut a few more squares and did. It’s a simple quilt but I like the colors. This is just baby or small lap sized.
I ended up getting it quilted AND bound.
I was on such a roll with binding that I put Frolic the mystery quilt under the needle and I got that one bound too. Can you believe all three of these got quilted and bound in the last three days???I am so happy!!
As I was working today I started thinking about quilts that I want to get done. I have a dog lover on my list of quilts to make. I’ve been trying to think of what to make for her.
I remembered I had this fabric….
I needed a pattern that didn’t chop the fabric into small pieces and then I remembered this pattern.
This would be perfect.  I’ve made this before…Kelli has too. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find the pattern at my house. I ended up ordering another one. Right now my plan is to get a black the same color as the black in the pattern and use up all the scraps of solid fabrics that I have the match the colors in the dog print for the small squares.
I ended up ordering black material so as soon as the black material and the pattern get here, I’m going to get sewing on this. YAHOO. I love a plan.
What’s up for tomorrow?? Well I hope to get pictures taken of the quilts I’ve finished so I can write blog posts about them for the upcoming week. We’ll see what the weather is like. Today we had tornados pass about 35 minutes south of here. Oh my. What a crazy world we’re in!!
I had an awesome Saturday…here’s to an awesome Sunday too!!
Wow, Jo!! You were SEW productive. You make me look like I’ve been sitting on my laurels!
Wow, you are on a roll! Great job! So glad you didn’t have the bad weather. Evidently there was a tornado in Oelwein. It must have been on the ground for just a short time. My Dad and brother are fine but they saw some of the damage today. The cemetary is a mess I guess with trees down everywhere. Take care . I’m glad you have this time to be creative and enjoy Rosie.
I am so envious of your productivity.. when do you sleep?? I enjoy your posts.
I had a great Sunday too. I took the day off to rest my bones so I can work well tomorrow. Sounds like Miss Rosie has learned to be better. Yes for great Sundays. I like the pattern you’re going to use for the dog quilt.
Wow! You got so much done! I love days like that! Those cinnamon rolls look heavenly! Glad Rosie is behaving herself so you can sew!
Thank you for sharing the link for the Quilted Twins quilt along, I’m going to get going on mine today. I really like your colorful doggy fabric, so cute. It was nice to see that Rosie is getting better at being a blessing instead of a stinker.
You are beyond amazing! I love the doggy fabric and I love Atkinson designs patterns. She is so clever and always easy.
the block in Slide Show (your new pattern) is in quilterscache as Dewey Block. I made a quilt years ago with printed ducks in the center of the block. It was a raffle quilt and turned out very nice.
