75 Fun Fat Quarter Quilts Blog Tour: HERE TODAY!!

It is blog tour day.  Actually it’s been blog tour week (or so).  Kelli and I are your last stop.

We had so much fun with this project and will happily jump on board and do another if the chance arises.  The people at C&T Publishing were great to work with.

If you’re new to the blog, I’ll say welcome.  I’m glad you could stop by.  My daughter Kelli and I are the creative forces around here.  We blog typically twice a day so there is always something fun and fresh to check out.  We have lots of free patterns that you check out.  You can find them along the right side bar of the blog.  We’ve had a really big year.  In January our book Country Girl Modern came out.  We had quilts featured in several national magazines year and we have a quilt featured in American Patchwork and Quilting 2016 calendar…PLUS, we were involved in 75 Fun Fat Quarter Quilts.  It’s been busy….but a fun kind of busy that we enjoy.

Last fall we were contacted by Roxane at C&T and were asked if we wanted to take part in the book.  Although we were busy, we jumped at the chance.  We were asked to design a quilt and then provide variations.  It was a fun design concept.

Our first project was Kim’s Deal. That’s our beagle Ruby is showing off.

We made six variations on the design including Miss Molly…..read more about it here.

and X Marks the Spot.  Read more about it here.

We have plans to make the rest of the quilts we designed for the book.  You’ll have to keep following the blog to catch them as we make them.

  1. Your quilts are beautiful! I love the rich colors of the civil war reproductions so I usually use blue somewhere.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  2. I would say that white on white (especially modern geometric white on white) and bright scrappy colors are the favorites of the moment for quilting. My second favorite is anything with a gray background. All the color variations of your quilt are amazing!

  3. I usually make scrappy quilts, but I always lean toward some red no matter what I may make. Thanks for the opportunity to win. Merry Christmas!

  4. My favorite color combo is scrappy, leaning toward darks and beiges. I’m working on Bonnie Hunter’s Garden Party right now, so I’m trying to trend a little brighter. Thanks for the giveaway.

  5. I LOVE BLUES AND CREAMS BUT HAVE BEIGN USING A LOT OF BROWNS AND CREAMS LATELY ENJOY YOUR BLOG. HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

  6. You really got several different looks with just one pattern! How cool!
I love to use lime green in my color combinations. It seems to brighten everything up and always looks good. Merry Christmas!

  7. I am favoring bright primary colors when quilting. When I started quilting I favored blue and yellow but decided I needed to branch out to other colors.

  8. I love your quilts. It’s so interesting how different each one becomes with just a little change. I love fall colors best – deep oranges and browns.

  9. I love to make scrap quilts where anything goes, but my personal favorite and usually the color of my clothing is any shade of blues, greens, and purples, especially combined together.

  10. Blues and yellow/golds are my favorite color combinations – school colors. I read your blog first everyday – there’s always something to inform and/or entertain. I’l love to win a copy of your book. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and enjoy a relaxing holiday.

  11. My color choices change, let say with the seasons! I like primary colors for kids quilts. I am trying to get into scrappier quilts, I struggle with it, but I am trying! I would love to win! Merry Christmas!

  12. Right now, my favorite combo is anything that clears fabric out of my sewing room. I have been scrapping it up for Bonnie’s mystery and trying to use out of my stash. I do have to say I try to throw a little purple in every quilt, but that’s only because it is my FAVORITE color!!!

  13. I’m all color all the time, but I’ve been concentrating on blues for the last couple years. I’ve decided I want to use the older ones so I can buy new! I love your Country Girl Modern and I’d also love to win a copy of your new one.

  14. I love seeing the variations of your pattern! Isn’t it amazing how different each one looks? As for my favorite color in a quilt, it is blue. Even when I make scrappy quilts, I find lots of blues in them. Maybe that’s because I have lots of blue leftovers from other quilts.

  15. i love scrappy quilts. I think i’m more traditional until I see the variations you have done and I really like them and want to try them as well. Love what you do.

  16. While my favorite color seems to be whatever I’m immersed in at the moment, anything from bright blue to deep purple on the spectrum seem to be what pull me to them at the fabric shop and the clothing store. Great book. Congratulations!

  17. I love blues and neutrals. After taking classes from you and Kelli at Oelwein this summer,
I am expanding “my vision” with scrappy colors. Love all your quilts.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  18. I’m attracted to red, all forms of red – pinkish, orangish, bluish, purplish red but especially saturated red! If there’s a red quilt on the pattern picture, I’ll make it.

  19. I guess my favorite combo would be black and white or red and white or aqua and peach. I guess my taste change depending on the fabric I see that day.

  20. I don’t have a favorite color so it’s not easy to pick color combinations based on that, but if I have to choose one I’d say grey with almost any other color especially yellow, red or aqua-ish colors. I love your quilts and look forward to making my own variations when I win the book, Ha!

  21. I love to use neutrals/beige’s and brown, because they are safe and easy for me to use. But I want to start using colors “outside of my box” and experiment and be bold with others colors!

  22. My favorite color combo changes often! Lately I love royal blue, lime green and a bright true orange on a background of grey and/or white.

  23. My favorites are red and green – Christmas quilts. My living room is also red and green – to keep me in the Christmas mood, even when there is no snow on the ground.

  24. I love the teals, greens and Browns together but also anything scrappy. Love to see what colours you put together, they are usually great finished.

  25. My favorite colors in quilts have changed over the years. I love scrappy quilts now with
more brights included. Thanks for the chance to win.

  26. I love red too, but lately raspberry has been the color of choice for me, I’ve mixed it with a mid green. And someday I’ll actually finish sewing that quilt for myself, but the holidays are here and my quilt pieces are in a drawer while I sew gifts.

  27. I love fall colors… oranges, greens, browns, golds with small bits of reds, purples & blues. Thanks for sponsoring the giveaway! I love reading your blog posts each day. It’s the BEST little pick me up!

  28. I love blue, so tend to put that in a lot of my quilts, but green sneaks in there a lot too. Beautiful color combos in your quilts. Thanks for sharing!

  29. I love red and white quilts and have made several now. Thanks for sharing your lives with us on the blog and all the best for the new year.

  30. It certainly depends on who or what I’m making a quilt for, but if it’s for myself, I prefer traditional (Civil War) colors, although not always traditional prints.
