Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!!

It’s a low key day here.  Most of our kiddos are off with “the other side” of the family.  We don’t do a lot here.  It’s simple.

Candlelight service was last night.

Today Kalissa and Craig are coming…Karl’s home.  We do a present thing but not much.  It’s very easy and no stress.

Lunch is our favorite meal.  This year….Fajitas.  Of course there are cookies and desserts.

We always have a rousing game of…The Farming Game.

It’s a lot like Monopoly but farming instead.  We’ve been playing it for years.  It’s become a bit of a tradition.  It’s VERY competitive.  (we actually just all gang up on Kalissa and try to make her lose.)  You have to be here to understand.

No ugly Christmas sweaters…no fancy table settings….Complete easy and I love it.  This is one of the things that’s helped me learn to enjoy Christmas.  It really had not been that way when I was a young mom.  This old mom has calmed down and bit and figured out that it’s MUCH better for things to be low key and for all of us to have fun than trying to make a show of things and me be miserable under the pressure.

Wherever you are in your journey today, I hope you can take a moment to take a deep breath and find some enjoyment.

For those of you dealing with family issues.  Take that deep breath.  A family fight honestly hurts the mom more than it hurts the sibling you are mad at.  (Trust me, I know) A new day is coming and you don’t have to see the people again for a bit.

For those of you spending the day alone, I’m thinking of you…  please take some time to do something you love.  Find a way to celebrate the day.  HUGS!!

For those of you who don’t observe Christmas, I’m so sorry that commercialism throws it all our faces.  Take it as a free day and go sew something!!!  Not much is better than that.  The Christmas music and commercials will soon give way to jewelry commercials for Valentines Day. (Life seems to be an ever changing commercial!!)

For those of you who LOVE Christmas…good for you!!  Enjoy your day!

I’m thinking of you all….
Merry Christmas to you from the Kramer Family.

Loved your thoughts on today. WIll remember your saying….The Christmas music and commercials will soon give way to jewelry commercials for Valentines Day. (Life seems to be an ever changing commercial!!)
    Made me chuckle.

We are low key over here also. Convinced hubs last night to not wrap our gifts to each other. We spent time together rather than locked away wrapping gifts. Of course will wrap my mom’s before today’s visit.

    Enjoy your day.

  5. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Jo! Have a relaxing day with those you love. Thanks for all you do and share. Hugs!!!

Merry Christmas! Family, food and fun is what it is all about. Enjoy your day. Celebrate the coming of our Lord.

  7. Merry Christmas Jo to you and your family! We celebrate with our children and grandchildren on Christmas Eve (at our house) and then they go to their “other families” on Christmas Day, leaving us free to relax and go to the movies. I love reading about your family traditions and your quilting.

  8. I so enjoy your site and your writing about how your family is knit together. Alas, I’m not a quilter but an addicted counted cross stitcher. But I love to see your quilts, one is always more beautiful than the last one. I wish you a Very Nerry Christmas and hopefully a Prosperous New Year. Prosperous counted by grand babies.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Jo! A very relaxed day today. I am going to see my mom at the nursing home in a bit (and give her the quilt I made her) and then come back home to cook dinner for my son and I. Missing my husband bunches on this day. Oh, how he loved Christmas and decorating everything up!

  10. Merry Christmas, Jo to you and your family! We had Christmas last night with the kids, so we are enjoying some quiet time today…very low keyed too! Thank you for your blog. You are an inspiration!

  11. Merry Christmas to you and your family, . We visited both of our children two weeks ago and now its just us and its pretty low keyed. Church was last night at 5 ( we wanted to see all the little ones sing) and today we are planning a walk along the Stones River and meatballs in the crockpot. I have never heard of the Farming Game but I understand the family ganging up on one member, we did this with Risk, lol it brings back many days of fun. Enjoy the time with those that gather together today.

  12. Merry Christmas to you and your family! We opted to go ‘low key’ a couple of years ago instead of a big meal. A handful of appetizers we enjoy snacking on, chatting and enjoying the grandparents company with a game of some kind to top off the visit.

  13. Merry Christmas, Kramer family! I’m glad you enjoyed celebrating Christmas your way. You are so right about the commercialism being way out of hand. How many of us actually need more “stuff” and all the pressure of finding the right “stuff” for gifts for everybody?

  14. Merry Christmas! Thanks for the reminder about the Farming Game. My roommate in college was an Ag major and we would have some friends over, order pizza and “farm”. Fun memories.
