Stash Report

Last week I told you about The Quiltmaker’s Shoppe in Manchester, Iowa.  Today I’m telling you about what I bought.

This gray fabric.  I was hoping to love it but once I got it home, I don’t.  Well I do love it, just not for this project.  I’m being super picky- I know.

I also picked up this cute little rabbit print fabric.  That one is for the stash.

What I am MOST excited for is the new rulers.

I have PLENTY of rulers.  I really didn’t need any at all but these are different.  (I know, I know)  How can rulers be different?  But these are.

As soon as I got home I had to show them off to Hubby.

Here it is on my fabric.  Try as I might the ruler doesn’t slide.  It is wonderful.  Hubby could easily see that the non slide feature will make cutting safer and make my cuts more accurate.  I’m in love.

Typically I’m pretty good and don’t fall for everything new but these, I fell for hard.  The rulers are made by Quilter’s Select.  Here’s a link.  There’s a video there you can watch that explains the rulers so you can really see how nice they are.I thought I had done pretty good at the quilt shop.  Even though I got the rulers, I didn’t get much fabric…..but then I saw these and had to get them…..
They were only $5 but how could I not get them???
 I love the little tags.

The Quiltmaker’s Shoppe is really nice and I enjoy stopping whenever I’m that way.  So not much got added to the fabric stash but the ruler bin is pretty full.  I think I’ll gift one of mine on to the Neighbor Girl.  I gave her one of my vintage Singers a couple weeks ago.  I probably should set her up with some sewing equipment.

  1. I have heard only good things about these rulers. There are mats and rotary cutters too. Plan to ordre some of the rulers.

  2. The rotary cutter is remarkable. I’ve had mine a year now and plan on adding a couple of the rulers too. Mother’s Day is coming! Have you thought about using black with the kaffe cassette fabric…

  3. I have not heard of those rulers and I will be going to Pigeon Forge Quilt show next week I will have to look for them. I have two rulers that I use a lot and anything I can do to stop the slipping would be wonderful. I hope you find the “right” grey for your quilt.

  4. Disappointed to see that you can not order these rulers from them on line. Have no quilt shops around this area, all went out of business. Maybe you could talk them into selling there products on line. You don’t know how lucky you are to have such a large selection of shops that sell fabric and quilt related stuff close to you.

  5. Rulers sound great. And I am soon to be purchasing new rulers. Was wondering if darker fabric like black is easy to see since the lines on the ruler look black and nothing was mentioned in the video.

  6. I didn’t think I needed new rulers either. Bought Olfa Frosted, liked them & didn’t need more. Then a quilt show trial & I purchased rulers, 2 mats & the cutter. Great choices. Many shops are selling them on line also.

  7. I made a Kaffe Fassett scrappy log cabin quilt with 2″ sashing and I used a light grey … BUT I had to audition several. Some made it dull. Don’t use it if you don’t love it.Kaffe fabrics need to pop IMO. Good Luck!
