When I was making my Criss Cross Applesauce quilt I ran into a bit of a problem. I was suppose to be making blocks with the four red corners but ended up making a stack of x blocks instead.
One of the x blocks made its way into the original Criss Cross Applesauce quilt shown above. I didn’t want to waste the remaining blocks so I sewed them into a simple baby quilt.
The quilt is really simple but simple in a cute boy baby kind of way. You might be surprised to know that I used a variegated thread that ranged from navy blue to baby blue to white. I love how it looks.
I did a simple small close stipple and I am very happy with that too. I’ve seen some awesome quilts at Country Threads that were quilted with a small stipple that were amazing. The stipple was even smaller than what I have here. Someday I want to try that.
If you are looking for the pattern, it’s just a variation and can be found in Scraps & Shirttails II: Continuing the Art of Quilting Green.
Today, I am hooking up with……Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays, Michelle’s Romantic Tangle and Crazy Mom Quilts.
Great idea! Is a ready just in case or is it designated for a special baby? I got two UFOs to tops this week and made 3 infinity scarves.. Can’t sleep, so I sew. :)
What a sweet little baby quilt. Don’t call it a mistake — it is just another design decision. I’m sure some baby boy will love it.
That looks like the perfect baby quilt to me! I love those blocks and may have to make some ‘on purpose’. LOL
I love them both, what w great mistake! Your baby quilt looks super! I think I have to try to get that book.
