Having foot surgery has been good for quilting progress. I can’t be at the quilting machine for long periods. I can’t be outside. I don’t want to go to town or anywhere else but home as the walking boot is such a pain. So what have I been doing? QUILTING at the machine. Life is good in that department for sure!!
I made lots of progress on this. It’s my version of Tropical Twist from Bonnie Hunter’s book Addicted to Scraps.
I got this far only to realize I was a block short. UGH.
In no time at all I had another made and was back in business so that last row could be added to the center. I also got this done…..the border pinwheels.
The inner borders are all cut and sewn together. It’s been a bit of a challenge to get the coloring figured out for the borders as I changed up the colors of the quilt and changed from a couple colors to only three and the colors are in more defined places. I think the first inner border will be red-then black-then the black pinwheels will have red on them and face inward and the red pinwheels will have black on them and face outward. It was a mess to figure out and hard to explain.
If you’re patient, I’m hoping I might have it together next week so you can see how it will look. For now, here’s where it’s at. I’m liking it.
This is a quilt for a graduation present for a guy that’s graduating from out local school this year. Our school colors are red, white and black so it’s perfect! Can you believe I didn’t make the quilt any bigger than the pattern calls for? That rarely happens!!
I got some UFO progress to report too but you’ll have to wait until Wednesday to hear about that!
