UFO Challenge

I’m doing pretty good squeezing bits of time here and there.  It’s not amazing progress but progress none-the-less.

Last week I left you at the point that I had all of the neutrals and all of the brown pieces sewn and trimmed.  This week, the pieces are sewn together and ironed.   Of course, that didn’t happen without a hitch.

I was happily sewing along and realized I was about six block short.  I didn’t have enough neutral pieces.  UGH.  I hate when that happens…but somehow I vaguely remember sewing three neutral string pieced blocks.  Hmmm…where could they be.  Part of was tempted to not look and simply sew three more but then the other part of me wanted to check it I had imagined it or not.

I figured if I had sewn them, they would likely be in the laundry room downstairs.  I put things there that I think I might get to during nap time…and sure enough, after a little digging, I found them.

Then the three got de-papered, trimmed and sewn to the remaining brown pieces.

Here they all are..sewn and ready for the next step.

Hopefully next week I’ll have these all together and sewn into the bigger blocks.  I’m so excited.  I’ve loved this quilt for a long time and can’t wait to see it come together.

I’ll see you right back here next Wednesday….Hopefully these will be big blocks by then!

I’ve made a selvage spider web quilt using Bonnie’s pattern with a light blue background. I’m sorry I don’t know how to include a photo in my comment.

I guess its really too early in the morning for me! I meant this comment to be on a different post of yours. Sorry about that! Please remove the previous comment and this one too if you’d like.

You have inspired me to work on some UFO s. I’m making progress but it is going slowly. At least it s progress and that’s good! Thanks for your encouragement!

I’m working on the new mystery and my UFO Celtic Solstice. Almost all of the 4-patches are done and I have started cutting the 3.5″ strips for Part 2. I have almost all of the start blocks complete for Celtic Solstice also. Hope to finish those up tonight or tomorrow night.
    Happy Stitching!

I loved doing the Pferneusse quilt! I haven’t gotten it quilted as I retired in January of this year. I’ve made over 20 baby quilts so Pfefferneusse is still waiting.

  6. Laura says:

I’m working on another Bonnie Hunter quilt, but it is still in pieces and unrecognizable.

  7. Karen says:

I have been finishing things this year – the quilt I am currently machine quilting I finished several months ago so now it will be finished this week and one more done!!

  8. Jayne in Utah says:

My goal this year has been to have one pieced top quilted. So far I’ve had 11 quilted but 3 need the binding sewn on and 2 are being bound now. And, I only started 2 new quilts this year, a baby quilt that was gifted to my new great grandson in February and Bonnie’s mystery. I think my goals for 2017 will be the same as this year, get the finished tops quilted and not start more than 2 new quilts. I love reading your blog as it keeps me focused on getting things finished. Thanks so much!

I have 1 finish last month and hope to finish another UFO this month. Both are queen size quilts 😊

  11. Nell says:

I am still trying to find time to get Easy Street blocks finished and topped out. I have step 2 of the new mystery cut but 90 left to sew. I did quilt 2 customer quilts over the weekend and am anxious to get back to my sewing room.

  12. Diane in WA says:

I am sewing on the mystery quilt. Only doing a half size, so it doesn’t take as long to do each clue. I was given a gift certificate to a local quilt store. One of the things I bought was the Twister pattern. So of course I had to start it right away. Have the top almost done. Will probably donate it to our guild’s charity group. I am working on a few other quilts when I have time, but my only goal is to get Bonnie’s Alletaire quilted by the end of the year.

  13. Linda in NE says:

Well now you’re ahead of me. I got all the string blocks sewed, trimmed, depapered & cut in half, but they aren’t sewed together yet. I had to put that project aside to work on my middle granddaughter’s t-shirt quilt for Christmas.

  14. Paula says:

I am trying to finish another Christmas gift quilt. And a couple shirts. And a doggy quilt. add several mug rugs. Not to mention, trying my hand at my first mystery quilt, and Bonnie Hunter’s scrappy Crystals. Help!
