Those Birthday Blocks
Last month was my birthday. Ah…my 50th year is OVER. I am so glad. I’m starting fresh.
If you remember, last year for my birthday all of you were so sweet and sent me quilt blocks for my birthday. I still have them. I haven’t forgotten about them. I still intend to do something with them. For some reason, I just couldn’t do it during my 50 year. I needed a fresh start without a foot injury and all the subsequent things that happened last year.
In the mail a week or so ago, came another block.
So here they are…all of the blocks.
They are in a pile waiting for me along with the awesome red polka dot fabric from Ila. Kelli was originally going to put the quilt together for me but now we decided we’re going to tackle it together. I’ve been looking at different resources to see if I can come up with a way to lay them out. It’s hard…there are so many different sizes…6″, 9″ and 12″.
More than finding a layout that’s holding us is finding time.
We had a day all set to do it…then I had to schedule a mammogram. Then we were going to do it after but Kelli got called into work. She was on overtime so was making LOTS of money and couldn’t turn it down.
Then I decided to start sewing on them on my own…then Kelli felt bad because she originally said she’d do it and then I offered to do all the charity quilts for Tennessee fire victims.
This is what often happens to me….I put my things aside for others. I’m not sad about that…in fact, I love it 99% of the time. Helping others is way more important than me finishing my 50th birthday quilt….at least it is for me. I promise…Kelli and I will get to it before my next birthday comes around.
Thanks for being a patient participant in the making of this quilt. Trust me, I’ll likely love even more if I have to wait for it for a bit. I LOVE anticipation!
