Over the next few weeks I am hosting a UFO Challenge. Â Everyone who participates picks a UFO that they have and they try to finish it before Bonnie Hunter’s new mystery quilt comes out on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Â If you stop by on Wednesdays you can see everyone’s progress…and by the way, it’s not to late to join us.
So I made progress this week…Did you?
If you’ve been following along you know that I am finishing up my Grand Illusion. Â Last week I got my five blocks sewn and then the blocks sewn into rows. Â Next up for me was sashing….
and I did it….six sashing rows now sewn.
That was my goal but I exceeded my goal and worked on the borders…they are now together too!!
Wow. Â I don’t feel like this has taken me long at all.
For about 30 seconds I couldn’t remember why this fell into UFO status and then I remembered my last year at Christmas time. Â We were DEEP into remodeling the house and then moving…yep, no wonder it didn’t get finished.
Anyway…dare I hope that next week it becomes a completed top. Â One can hope but I’ll take what I can get.
See you next week!
I’m with you. I need to finish my Grand Illusion quilt, too.

I’m hoping to get my Random Ohio Stars glue basted this weekend. If I do, I’ll link it. :)
My goal was to quilt 5 rows a day on my Grand Illusion but I only got about 20 rows done this past week.
I was hoping to finish my star struck blocks–got close–2 left to finish tomorrow. I did start quilting the charity quilt that I want to get done before I start quilting my Oklahoma Backroads quilt, but I hated what I did so now I’m un-quilting it!
Jo I finished the star quilt top started at the Iowa retreat. Posted a picture on Quiltville Open Group. I ended up leaving off one row and the neutrals around the edge. It ended up being around 78 X 88 and will have a blue binding. Now on to try and find my midnight flight blocks and sew them together. Then get the border blocks all sewn up. Thanks for such a great retreat. And I love your book.
Jo, things have been crazy exciting around my house the past couple of months, in reality, I am participating but still have not managed to get linked up. I will try later on and see if I can figure out the process. I also want to say that the golden yellow you are using is absolutely gorgeous! Great success with the amount you have accomplished. I am in the process of putting on my last 1st set of a medium to dark scrappy border. I am aiming for 4 rows, but will depend on how it fits our bed. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful creative day!
My UFO is on the frame getting quilted! Going to take a while since it is “modern” and has lots of negative space!!!
Got my Pineapple Blossom borders sewn and on the quilt and pieced a backing. Now to assemble it all!
