A post from Kelli: Growing up, mom and dad worked to teach us how to get ourselves ready at an early age. After having 5 kids in only 8 years, I can only imagine what a pain it would have been if mom would have had to get us all ready before going anywhere! To let us know that we needed to hurry up and get in gear, we often got a “five minute warning,” which let us know that we better be ready to leave in 5 minutes. When I go home and we are getting ready to go somewhere, I still get the five minute warning.
Because this year is zooming by (they seem to go faster the older I get), I’m going to give you a five day warning to finish up your first block for our Pieceful Nights Sampler. In January, we noted that the first block we would be completing would be the block in the upper left-hand corner. For those of you who have the pattern, but may not have started yet, this will be block #1, China Doll.
This gives you time to finish up your block if you haven’t gotten a chance to. If you haven’t gotten a chance to purchase your pattern yet, you can purchase it from Country Threads here. One thing to note is that the shipping will be adjusted to the actual shipping cost once the order is processed.
I will be making my Pieceful Nights Sampler using Paintbox Prints and Paintbox Batiks by Laundry Basket quilts. The fabric is not yet available quite yet, but the links above will lead you to Fat Quarter Shop where you can sign up to be alerted when the fabric is in if you would like. I am very excited to work with these wonderful fabrics and am looking forward to see how the prints and batiks will work together when completing the quilt! I have never made a quilt with batiks before and at first the thought of mixing the batiks and printed fabric made me a bit uncomfortable, but I figured that there is a first time for everything and so I’m jumping in feet first!
This year we will be doing some things the same and a few things different with the quilt along/”Wool Along.” To award those participating, we will have some great prizes that will be given out to those participating in both this quilt along as well as Mom’s “Wool Along.” We will also still be adding a linky to the bottom of the post so that those with a blog will be able to share their progress each month.
One thing that we will be doing a bit different this year will be using Pinterest to showcase everyone’s monthly progress. Previously, we had participants who didn’t have a blog email their pictures, but we have decided that Pinterest will allow us to share progress with everyone! We are currently in the process of creating a Jo’s Country Junction Pinterest page and will be providing instructions on how you can upload a picture of your progress. Another thing that will be a bit different is that we will be showing off the finished blocks and I will be showing you the next month’s block or steps on the first Wednesday of each month.
If you have any questions, please let us know and we’ll do our best to answer. Let the 5-day warning begin!
