Pieceful Nights Quilt Along–October Edition

A post from Kelli:

When I was first planning out the quilt along, I was having a tough time trying to break everything up so that we would have a finished quilt by the end of the year.  I tried it a couple ways and it took too much time.  I tried it a few different ways and it was finished to early.  So when I finally got it figured out, I was pretty excited.  After reviewing “the plan” I was a little worried about the time it may take to complete last month’s block, but I was so excited and surprised after I saw all of the beautiful blocks!

For the month of October, you will need to cut out all of the pieces that are listed on page 1.  There are 14 different kinds of pieces that will need to be cut out.  Some have templates and others are just pieces that can be cut using a ruler and rotary cutter.  This month can also be used as a month to catch up or maybe finish a block that you had previously skipped over.

Here is Sharyn’s block. I love the print of the large red star points.

I love how Melody’s colors play so well together.PiecefulNights-Sept-Melody

Judy has also chose a wonderful color palate.  I love the darker background on the outside.

I love Joanna’s background with a red print.

Barb chose some beautiful blues for her block.PiecefulNights-Sept-Barb
Here is Nancy’s block.

If you didn’t get a chance to check in with us yesterday, we have some sad news to share.  The decision was made to put our wonderful outside dog Pepper to sleep.  She had gotten hit by a car last weekend.  Her health has been gradually declining over the past year or so we knew that recovery would be next to impossible.  We will always remember her as a wonderful guardian dog and I know that I will miss her tail thumps when I go home next weekend.

Catching Up: Giveaways

Between the wedding and closing on the house, I’ve been in a bit of a tail spin.  I am sure it’s not going to get a lot better.  In fact we have meetings with the carpenter and electrician today.  In between, I am trying to get all the giveaways caught up.

The winners of the Bitty Buddies from  The Gypsy Quilter are…

Carol Sc who said, “Whoa!  too many to count!!  I usually go on five quilt retreats in a year — but, I sew weekly with one group, every two weeks with two other groups and monthly with another — and that doesn’t count the two guild meetings.  I love my quilting friends — we share life — the good and the not so good.”

Irene who said, “I love going to classes and now that I’ve quit my job I’ll have plenty of time to go to more!  I’m hoping to talk my quilting buddy into going to AQS Quilt week in Des Moines Iowa in October!  Keeping my fingers crossed!”

The winner of the book  And Sew to Bed:30 Beautiful Sewing Projects for Nightwear and Accessories” by Caro Cuttes and Alison Beadnell by Cico books is…

Tressa who said, “I just made pajama shorts for the 4 littles and 3 skirts for church. I’ve got 4 children who still don’t seem to mind when I make them things so I figure I’ve got a lot of sewing in my future left to do and lots of fabric to use with it and with sleepwear it’s great because it doesn’t have to look perfect to sleep in so i get to practice different things.”

Pieceful Nights Quilt Along

A Post from Kelli:
It’s been a busy, busy month for us around here and next month is shaping up to be busy too.

I finally sat down and made my blocks last night.  Here they are.  Yes-we are doing two blocks again this month.  I love how my Paint Box Batiks fabric are looking.  I was hesitant at first to use batiks for this but I really like it.  If you are looking for the this fabric line, I know Fat Quarter Shop has it.  The two blocks that we will be making this month are #9–Golden Royalty (left) and #10–Lewis and Clark (right).

Blocks for July

We have blocks in from all of you.   Here are Sharyn’s blocks from last month.  That pop of gold looks great.

Next up are Judy’s blocks.  Those greens, reds and golds are playing nicely together.

Melody’s blocks look great.  I can’t wait to see all these quilts finished as the blocks are so fun.

Here are Nancy’s blocks.

I’ll be scrambling to get the next section of the quilt done for next month.  We have wedding things for my brother, fair things and cousin things all stacked together.  That’s the fun of summer though!  See you right back here next month.
