A Present for ME!

Look what I got!wacomtablet

It’s a new Wacom Tablet Bamboo Fun.  I LOVE it!  I had an older version and it was getting beat up so it was time for a new one.    If you aren’t familiar with them you are missing something.  You can use the pen just like a mouse.  When I am drawing things for the website, www.makinglearningfun.com, I use it all the time.  It is easy to adapt to.  It was a present to myself….from myself.  Sometimes those are the best presents.

“The Talk”

I went to the doctor about two weeks ago and we had “the talk”.  No…I already know about the birds and bees.  This is the talk that all us hate…the talk about weight.  UGH!!

Well I was told my blood sugar is a little high and loosing weight just might be my ticket to getting it at the right level.   She suggested I try a Adkins type of diet.  It’s been a long couple weeks for me learning to adjust.

Eating protein and fat is a whole new world for me.  Every other time I have lost weight, I did the complete opposite..little meat and NO FAT….so like I said, it’s been an adjustment.  It’s also been a bit of an adjust to my belt notch too.  I already lost 8 pounds which I am VERY happy about.  If I can loose about 25 more that would be WONDERFUL and if I can learn to keep it off that would be the best yet….

Loosing weight has never been hard for me…it’s the keeping it off that kills me.

Don’t worry, I am not going to turn the blog into my weight loss story.  I will still post recipes for yummy calorie filled foods but I might throw a few recipes in that us Non Sugar/Non Carb eaters can love too…

All About Me!

Many of you know that I have an early learning printables website, www.makinglearningfun.com.  Well I was working on some activities for it yesterday when I decided to make an “All About Me” poster

AllAboutMe-poster

Many of you may remember something similar from your school days.  The teacher would select one person for star of the week and a bulletin board spot would be dedicated to that special student.  While I was working on poster, I suddently realized that my blog has no about me page…so I went to work to remedy that….You can check it out at the link on the right hand side of the page near the top.

I would love to hear all about you too….are you quilters, bakers, users of my website?  Feel free to jot me a note and introduce yourself….

P.S.   For those of you who are quilters, check out Missouri Star Quilt Company’s Jelly Roll week…all week long they having big sales on jelly rolls.  They have some great tutorials and patterns in their blog too.  Check it out!

That’s Right, You’ve Been Redirected!

Hello all, this is Kayla hijacking Mom’s blog.  She has a new domain, Jo’s Country Junction.  Please update you bookmarks accordingly.  She had been using my old domain, Making Thrifty Fun, but didn’t blog much about thriftiness.  If you are interested in thrift, my blog is where you want to be. (very sneaky!) You can find it at Kayla K’s Thrifty Ways.

Mom will be having a new blog makeover to better show her cooking, crafting, country-girl personality.  We’re both very excited!  Check back often, or subscribe to RSS and we’ll find you!

Oh yes, and this post fills in some space before Mom’s next post, featuring a picture of her scary toe.  Beware as you scroll down! :)
