Christmas Memories

Charming Chatter’s shop (Cotton Charm Quilt Shop) is having a Christmas Memories Give-Away….in order to enter you have to tell about a favorite Christmas memory…

I can honestly say, I come from one of those families that Christmas hasn’t always been filled with happy memories.  I have my own family now and I do my best to try to do things to make sure that my children’s Christmas’ aren’t filled with bad memories….I will share my favorite present….

When I was about eight, my mom and sister sewed barbie doll and doll clothes for me and my niece (who was just four years younger than me).  Many of the clothes were matching so we could play that they went to shopping and both dolls bought the same outfit or we’d pretend they were twins.  My Mom and my sister are VERY talented seamstresses.  The doll clothes were detailed with beautiful lace, snaps, and buttons.   I still have many of the outfits stashed away in my with my Barbies.  My own daughters played with the clothes too.  No store bought clothes would ever stand up to that wear.  It was such a special memory for me that I gave the same gift to my daughters a couple different times.  It was always the perfect present for them too.  Blessed is a mother who has a girl that loves dolls…..you can always make doll clothes.

If I were to win this awesome give away I would love to recieve the Stella Blue Kit

I have been sewing some of Miss Rosie’s Schnibble patterns and LOVE them.  This would be awesome.  What can beat a quilt kit…picking the colors is always a challenge for me and this would save me!  I love the colors….patriotic themed items can’t be beat!

I have my eye a Simple Abundance Fat Quarter Pack.  I would love to try a new challenge and make these Plates for the Table at Moda Bake Shop.  I just bought the easy dresden plate ruler and would love a chance to try it out.

My list could go on and on there are so many great things at the shop….
Being I am doing the Year of Schibbles, I would love two charm packs of Love U by Deb Strain or Civil War Home Front or Simple Abundance……I’m sure you get the idea…anything Schnibble-able.

So that’s my condensed version of my wish list.   If I put everything on there, this blog post could go on forever…

If you haven’t discoverd Cotton Charm, take a second to check them out.  The site is nicely organzied and easy to navigate.  I ordered my November Schnibble things from there.  The service was fast, shipping was resonable and the prices are great….

Another Confession…

Being I confessed part of my “sins” yesterday, I thought I would confess another today.
I am addicted to the Missouri Star Quilt Company’s Deal of Day.  Today, that is a good thing because They are giving away a FREE Snippets by American Jane Turnover!

WOW!!  I haven’t been a turnover fan…I have never tried turnovers partly because I just don’t like triangles…partly because I have yet to find a pattern that has convinced me to try them.  If you go over to Missouri Star Quilt Company to snag your own FREE daily deal, check out the tutorials.  The stack and whack one is my favorite.  Wouldn’t that make an awesome donation project or a quick easy baby quilt?  ….I know, I know, I am supposed to be working on my UFO  Joy in the New Year Challenge….I promise…I will finish at least one more item on my list this weekend.

100 Post Anniversary

It’s a happy 100th post anniversary for Jo’s Country Junction and it’s a giveaway for you!
Since entering the blog world, I have been completely amazed at all the wonderful ideas a person can find in blogland.  My hubby can’t figure out how I would prefer the computer over the televison…obviously he hasn’t discovered blogs.

The give away closes on Friday night at midnight here.  Good Luck!

If you aren’t a winner, but want to make a set of letters for yourself.  Here is a link to the Rag Letter tutorial at Oh So Happy Together.  I made the bag using Rachel’s Tutorial at P.S. I Quilt.  I am warning you that I did adjust the directions for the bag by adding nine strips instead of eight.  I also made the bottom piece 9.5 x 7.  When the corners were sewn I used a 2″ measurement rather than 1.5.  The batting was cut the size of the top and the lining measurement changed to 16 x 101/4.  The adjustments need to be made for the bag so that letters can fit in the bag.

Wouldn’t they make a wonderful gift for the little one you love?
